Photo Tips for Solo Travelers
Tip #1 Invest in a Tripod w/ Bluetooth Remote
The first way you can get a good photo of yourself is to buy a mini-tripod with a Bluetooth remote. These can be purchased for less than $20 on Amazon and its small so it’s easy to travel with. To take photos with the tripod just set it up, jump in the shot, and then use the remote to click the shots from your phone.
Tip#2 Record a Video
Another great tool you can use to get great photos is the video function of your phone. Once you have your tripod you can set that up in the shot you want and then walk into the frame. Press the record button and then pose in front of the camera in different directions. Go through the video and pause the video when you see a moment you like and then screenshot the image. You can then edit the photo and crop out anything you don’t want. Edit your photo and upload it to Instagram!
Tip#3 Hire a Photographer
My favorite way to obtain great photos is to hire a photographer. I have used services such as AirBnb Experiences to book a photo tour or photoshoot with a photographer. I have found that this is the easiest way to find the best photo spots and you’ll have someone with you that knows how to get the best angles of you. Most of the time they will give you edited photos if they use a professional camera and other times, they may just take the photos on your cell phone. I have paid anywhere from $20-$200 for photo tours and professional photographers during my travels.
