5 Ways to get Money for Travel

1. Lower your Cost of Living

Lowering your cost of living basically means just cutting back on things you are spending money on. If you get your nails and your hair done every month, figure out how to save money by doing your nails/hair yourself or getting the service cheaper somewhere else. Cut back on how much you spend on eating out or going to the movies. If you are subscribed to any monthly subscriptions such as Hulu, Netflix etc. determine if you are really taking advantage of the service or if you can afford to discontinue.

2. Sell Your Items

Selling items you aren’t using can be a great way to make money with the things around you. Sometimes I sell things that I have gotten for free at special events or swag from festivals I attended. You would be surprised at the random items people are willing to buy. The only work you have to do is taking photos, making a post, and meeting up with the buyer or shipping the product to the buyer. My favorite places to sell items are Poshmark, Facebook Market, and Craigslist. Be sure to research on how to sell on these sites and not get scammed. I have been scammed before and it’s not fun.

3. Get Cash Back from Everyday Spending

There are several cash back apps that you can use to earn money back on regular online purchases you already make. Rakuten (formerly Ebates) is the most popular website/app along with Ibotta and Shopkick to name a few. If you decide to sign up for these websites use the links below and receive some money just for signing up.

4. Get a Side Hustle/ Part Time Job

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Getting part time sounds time consuming and tiring. What if I told you it was possible to make a good amount of money, in a short amount of time, without doing that much work? Sounds good right?

There a few side hustles I can think of that fit that description. One in particular is being a Brand Ambassador. You work special events such as festivals and typically hand out swag, watch the line, take photos of customers or help with some type of registration. Each job can be different, but companies typically pay $20-$40hr for these positions. Some events are one day but sometimes you can get booked for a multi-day event which means you can possibly make $400+ within a short amount of time. You can fund a whole trip by just working two multi day events a month.

Another side hustle that allow you to make money in a short amount of time is driving for Lyft or Uber if you have a car. I have worked for Lyft before and have made $150 in less than 4hrs on several occasions.

If you have any special skills like editing, coding, or graphic design you can post your skills on sites like Upwork for freelance jobs. If you are good at photography, you can start charging people for photoshoots. It doesn’t even have to be that much; if you can get 20 people to book a photoshoot with you and you charge them $20, that’s $400 for your travel fund.

5. Manifest Money

Manifesting money for travel is probably the riskiest and more challenging route you can take. The reason I say this is because you don’t know how the money will come when you start manifesting it. Sometimes good things can happen that bring you the money and at the same thing bad things can happen for the money to manifest into your life. At the same time, it takes a lot of consistency and mind power to make this possible.
