My Travel Story

Welcome to my blog, The Travel Taurus. This is where I will be sharing travel hacks, travel tips, information about destinations, travel stories, and more importantly travel/life inspiration!

I truly believe that travel is a very obtainable goal whether you wish to learn more about cultures, having fun with your friends, or travel to discover yourself. Through my blog I hope to show you how I have turned traveling into a lifestyle that started out as a hobby for me. Allow me to tell you the short version of my travel journey.

Egypt (2009)

Egypt (2009)

I have been traveling for quite some time, ever since I was young. I never really went out of the country until I was in college when I went to Mexico with my mother on a cruise. In 2009, I actually had the opportunity to travel to a place that I had only seen in movies and textbooks, Egypt. I traveled there with my university on a “service learning” trip. We did a combination of sight-seeing and volunteer work for two weeks. While on that trip, I definitely saw and learned somethings that shaped the way I viewed the world around me.

Fast forward to 2017, when I was unceremoniously broken up with by my boyfriend of almost six years. Having all of this extra time to myself I started to explore of my passions which included travel. By that time, I had traveled some, but mostly around the United States to major cities such as Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York City. In 2018 I set a goal for myself to travel once a month. I met that goal for the most part with the exception of the two months I didn’t travel.

Thailand (2019)

The two months I didn’t travel, I spent setting goals for 2019. I wanted to do longer trips that were further away. I especially wanted to visit Southeast Asia because most of the YouTube videos I saw online were about SE Asia, specifically Bali and Thailand. While down the YouTube rabbit hole I learned about the Law of Attraction and how other people were using it to make their wildest dreams come true. I decided to try it myself and see what happened.

Guatemala (2020)

A few months later, I was quitting my job and booking my one-way flight from Texas to London which is where I started my four-month adventure abroad. I spent two months in Europe where I traveled solo through eleven countries. After that I flew to Asia where I traveled for two months as well, visiting six countries. It was definitely one hell of a summer and I don’t regret my decision at all. I actually met a lot of people who had done the same thing and they were doing just fine.

Since I have been traveling, I have gained quite an audience on Instagram. I enjoy sharing my experiences with others and letting them know what the real deal is with these destinations you see on the internet. Through my blog, I hope to be able to encourage and educate anyone who comes across my content about travel and how they can make it part of their life. Travel has transformed me into the person I am today, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thank you for reading my short story and I look forward to sharing more stories and helpful information with you.
